Suryen is a dual-qualified Barrister and Solicitor-Advocate, specialising in construction law and dispute resolution resolved through litigation, arbitration, adjudication, mediation and expert determination. He has experience advising in both common-law and civil-law jurisdictions for domestic and international projects.
Suryen has extensive experience in advising on both contentious and non-contentious matters and has acted for various main contractors, sub-contractors, employers, construction professionals, public bodies and developers.
Suryen was called to the English Bar in 2004, and the Mauritian Bar in 2005, admitted as a Solicitor of the Senior Courts in 2013, and became a Fellow Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb).
Suryen has lectured construction professionals on aspects of construction contracts, dispute avoidance and dispute resolution, and regularly contributed to the Adjudication Society Newsletter and the Building Magazine’s “Case in Focus” on various aspects of adjudication and construction law.
